HARDEST. WEEK. EVAR.

So guys, cool story.  I started a new diet. It's called "Have 4 kids that you educate in your home and a millionbazillion appointments every day and never sit down and always forget to eat food, plus also, right I have a job". And it is going amazing.

Granted, it's not for everyone. For onesies, not everyone can get their hands on 4 kids under the age of 6 on short notice. And that part really is imperative. I've been on the "3 kids that you educate at home and plus I also have a job" diet, and let me tell you it's just not the same.

So lately, I'm stressed out. And crazy busy. And I never knew life could be this difficult or this awesome.

Aaaaaw.

But for reals.

I do like the school time stuff. I like the reading and the teaching and I handled the Problem of the 21 Month Old by turning on some old school Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Which made me feel like he's really getting an education too. The more you know.

Anyway, the first couple of days have gone pretty well. 1st Grade Child keeps telling me how amazing this all is. Kindergarten Child is less enthusiastic, but she was won over, at least momentarily, by a Shake-Out-The-Grumpies funtivity followed by dancing our hearts out to some classical musica. The Preschooler, lastly, has mixed feelings. Or, positive feelings and a short attention span. Something like that.

I wanted to share a few of our back to school picks because aaaaaaw, but of course, there is one child conspicuously missing. I should talk too much about how she looked, but I will say this this: If any local Comissioners need to send a signal light into the sky, there would be not one, but two respondents from this home. Except of course we have a pretty firm 8pm bedtime here. So sorry, Gotham-Visalia.

Precious.

Hasn't forgotten how to write her name. Summer win.

Little man wanted his picture taken too. And I did because his face makes the sun shine.

Seriously? These guys. Come on.

Once again, I'm being instructed that it's bedtime. Happy almost Friday, Y'all! First weekend of the year!!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Happy school time, Internets! The summer time was a lovely break but dude, it is DONE and homeschool starts TODAY.

Oh right. We have some news.

We totally bought a minivan this summer.
 This is how we Minivan.
Minivaning like a boss.

Wait... no. The real news is WHY we bought the minivan. As it turns out, (INSERT DRUM ROLL HERE NOW PLEASE) we've got a new Weirdo joining the clan!  But seeing as how I rather despise pregnancy and sleepless nights and new stretch marks and diaper changing, this one is joining us as a fully potty trained Kindergartner. No pictures now because of foster/pre-adoption stickiness, but if you are curious, she is an adorable little brunette child with a great big heart and more attitude than sense. And we are having an amazing time. :-)

So today, we started 1st Grade, Kindergarten, and Preschool. Since 2 year old Kaden was such a fan of joining us for school time last year, I figured 3 year old Kaden deserved to be included in the festivities this year. Lucky 3 year old Kaden.

And then there's this other thing where we're joining a new group this year. It's called Classical Conversations. It means, practically speaking, that we are spending 1 day a week at a site, and 4 days a week at home. And I know what you're thinking, that this sounds like we're 20% giving up on homeschooling (I'm the math expert in the family, you're welcome), but that is not true. Probably. It's about like... philosophy... or something. It's late and I forget.

Okay, so we joined the group to meet other families, other homeschool weirdos my weirdos could relate to. But then I got into the propaganda materials and became a crazy proselytizing believer in the classical education model. Because kids these days are just learning facts! They're not learning how to learn! Or something like that. I'll let you know once I get deeper into the materials.

Happy first day, Y'all!
